25 Houses Under 1500 Square Feet is one of the many architecture books by James Grayson Trulove. It features beautiful photography of a variety of well-designed small homes.

The houses range from 640 square feet to 1,500 square feet. Many of them are modern architecture (the "warm" kind with light woods, not cold and hard), but there are other styles represented too. Floorplans or other drawings are shown for most homes.

I love the interiors of the narrow Longmeadow House and Teviot Springs. The abudance of glass and the simple wood finishes are casual but classy. The Writers Studo features a wonderful canilevered window seat / daybed. The Vineyard Guest House is an ultra-simple design that still manages to have Mediterranean flair. The Honeymoon Cottage has many similarities to my house, although mine is half the size and has much nicer porches.

25 Houses Under 1500 Square Feet has little text, but that's okay. The many photos of well-designed homes are great sources of inspiration for anyone dreaming of building a small house of their own.
