Cabins and Cottages is part of a series of home repair and improvements books by Time-Life Books. This fantastic simple guide to building a cabin features many useful illustrations. It appears to be out of print now, but you can still buy used copies from Amazon.

From the foundation to the roof, Time-Life Cabins and Cottages presents very easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions on how to construct a simple cabin. And the illustrations are the best part -- they make the building process very clear.

I'm convinced that you could build the small one-story cabin presented here with nothing more than this book. If you wanted to give it more style, it wouldn't be difficult to add a hipped roof and a veranda for a Japanese look. The possibilities are endless.

Time-Life Cabins and Cottages is a great book. In fact, this entire series was extremely well done.
