Flags

Flags are under-utilized design elements for homes. I fly three flags by my porches and enjoy the color and movement they add. Mine are two state flags and one university flag, and I'd recommend them as good starting points for anyone's flag collection.

I lived in Texas and Maryland for many years, so their state flags are natural choices for me to fly. They're also excellent colorful designs. I don't fly the Virginia flag because it's not very good-looking.

My other flag is a university flag -- from the University of Virginia naturally. I like the design and I like to fly my school's colors.

All of my flags are the standard 3' x 5' size that works well for homes. They're nylon so they stand up to the weather, and I don't bring them in when it rains.

Add color to the facade of your house with flags. Build a collection over time and you'll have variety too.
