Programmable Thermostats
I needed line voltage programmable thermostats because my house has baseboard electric heat. They're not easy to find in stores, but you can order them online. I got mine from Atlanta Supply. They are made by Honeywell and cost about $60 each. I have one in each room, but that only totals five (another advantage of a small house). Some programmable thermostats are big ugly things, but these are no bigger than old-fashioned dial thermostats. The sleek LCD readout has the time, current temperature and settings. They automatically increase or decrease the temperature at set times throughout the day. You can set temps for night, morning, work hours, and evening. Weekends can have a different schedule. It's all very easy to program. Most electric baseboard thermostats are ridiculous dials that aren't much more sophisticated than setting "cool, warm or hot". My Honeywells are serious 240 volt, 16 amp DPST units. Save money and energy with quality programmable thermostats. No matter what kind of heating system you have, accurate control of the temperature is important. |
